Florida A&M University – Tallahassee, FL

preservation series window inserts used in a Florida residential building

Florida A&M University was awarded a historic preservation grant from the National Park Service to modernize and preserve their Sampson Hall dormitory. This brick building with original wooden sash windows was in need of complete restoration to the primary windows as well as a retrofit solution that would ensure the historical integrity while modernizing the efficiency of these 100-year old windows.

To achieve this combined approach, the Architect specified Climate Seal window inserts and along with Environmental Window Solutions and Lela Williams Interior Design (Largo, FL), we were able to help the university achieve LEED® certification while maintaining the original look of the windows. The goal was achieved and the units look fantastic!
